Rated Ofsted outstanding in 2007 and again in 2023, the College consistently achieves one of the highest Advanced Level points scores per entry of over 100 SFC’s nationally and has outstanding value added results as measured by both the ALIS and ALPS systems.
The Heart of Mercia Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), formed on 1 April 2019, delivers education in the West Midlands; Hereford Sixth Form College is a part of this Trust. The MAT has an annual budget of £50m and serves the needs of 8,500 students across the region.

This role is critical to the Estates Department’s maintenance support service and offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning of college facilities with a varied and dynamic workload.
This opportunity is ideal for those experienced in using hand, power and machine tools to undertake a broad range of maintenance, repair and installation work. Candidates may have a specific trade or relevant experience in buildings maintenance and will be a confident independent worker alongside the ability to work as part of a dedicated team.

Working as part of a dedicated team, this role provides a key contribution to the day-to day management and maintenance of the college estates, ensuring its proper functioning, cleanliness and security.

The role carries significant operational responsibility, including acting as the College’s primary contact for AoC Sport, coordinating all competitive fixtures, and managing the associated logistics such as transport, facilities, officials, equipment, and first‑aid provision. The Head of Sport also supports coaching staff in liaising with curriculum teams to ensure students are appropriately released from lessons to attend fixtures, tournaments, and other sporting commitments.
A key part of the role involves ensuring each academy operates in full compliance with the relevant National Governing Body (NGB) regulations, including safeguarding, eligibility, coaching standards, and competition requirements. The postholder is also responsible for managing budgets associated with the academies, ensuring resources are used effectively and financial processes are followed.
Alongside day‑to‑day operations, the postholder plays a strategic role in shaping the long‑term success of the academies. This includes maintaining strong succession planning for coaching staff, supporting senior management with the recruitment and enrolment of students into academy programmes, and working closely with kit suppliers and partners. The role also focuses on building and sustaining relationships with local schools, community organisations, and sports clubs to strengthen pathways, enhance participation, and promote the College’s sporting profile.
