Applied Information Technology
This subject will look at the significant role that IT systems have in the world around us and play a part in almost everything we do. You will explore the relationships between the hardware and sofware that form an IT system, how systems work individually and together, and the relationship between the user and the system. You will examine issues related to the use of IT systems and the impact that they have on organisations and individuals.
Applied IT
What will I learn?
- Knowledge of digital technologies and how organisations plan digital projects and follow a project life cycle.
- Transferable skills such as creativity and innovation and written communications.
- Understanding of organisation structures and processes and how to embed digital safety to keep data and assets secure.
- How to follow a design methodology to create and develop a database design to meet user requirements, including testing the solution.

- Information technology systems, including the relationship between software and hardware, and the issues related to IT systems.
- Data security and transmission.
- Relational database development.
- Data analytics/modelling.
- Assitive technologies.
Applied IT
What can you do after the course?
This course can lead to a wide range of degree courses, apprenticeships and careers including: digital marketing, software engineer, business and management, information systems, accountancy and data analytics.
All students will have an opportunity to enhance their team-working skills and employability awareness through organised trips and visiting speakers.
I like that this course has a focus on the creative aspects of it as well as the computer coding; I really enjoy that.
