Hereford Sixth Form College Student, Sasha S, has achieved national recognition by winning the prestigious Rotary Club Young Citizen Peacemaker Award.
Sasha came to the UK from the Ukraine in 2022 and joined HSFC in 2023. She quickly immersed herself in both college and local community life. At college, she founded and leads the Ukrainian Society, and has given two insightful talks for students: A Brief History of Ukraine and The Anniversary of the Outbreak of War. She also wrote a moving poem titled What is War?, which was read aloud during the college’s Remembrance Day event.
Her passion and commitment led to further recognition. Sasha was invited to read at Hereford Cathedral during a visit from the Archbishop of Canterbury, and she was interviewed by BBC Hereford & Worcester Radio.

In celebration of her achievements, Sasha was invited to a Hereford Rotary Club meeting as a special guest, where she received a certificate from local President Kevin Hewison. The club generously supported her trip to Bewdley, where she was presented with the national award.
HSFC is proud of its strong partnership with the Hereford Rotary Club, which supports student participation in a range of award categories at local level. In addition to Sasha’s national win, HSFC students have received certificates for the Young Citizen, Environmentalist, and Sports Hero awards.
This marks the first time HSFC has received a national Rotary award, and we are incredibly proud of Sasha and all that she has contributed to our community.
