In addition to the resources and the computers, it provides various study environments, including group study and silent study.

IT facilities

The College has approximately 800 computers.

These can be found in dedicated computer rooms, drop-in centres, the Library and also spread throughout the departments in the College.

Many students also choose to study in the Pavilion, The Bridge, or other social spaces in the College.

The Music Department has purpose built, multi-million pound accommodation that houses state of the art facilities in acoustically engineered spaces.

The music suite comprises a recording studio, recital room, computer suite and practice rooms.

We have an excellent range of acoustic instruments in our stock, as well as pianos, keyboards, orchestral and percussion instruments, mics and amplifiers.

There is also a well-stocked library of scores and reference books.

The facilities at the College are excellent, with top quality pianos, technology and practice room. Diverse activities and ensembles run daily and there is a vibrant close-knit feel amongst the students, with excellent support from the staff in all areas of music making.

Performance studio

Performance Studio

The Performance Studio acts as a Recital Room for small concerts, and is the main training space for the scholarship programmes and the A-Level music course. It contains a Bosendorfer grand piano, tiered seating, and has been specifically designed for music performance.

Music computer suite

The computer suite has:

  • 21 dedicated Mac computers.
  • Logic Pro sequencing software.
  • Sibelius 7.5 scoring software.

Control room

The Performance Studio and the Recording Studio are both connected to a professional standard recording control room, run by a Mac G5 computer with a 24 channel control surface and running ProTools 9.5 industry standard software.

Recording studio

The acoustically designed recording studio has:

  • Non-parallel surfaces and acoustic surfaces for dead reverberation.
  • Microphone and headphone sockets connect to the control room.
  • Isolation booth.

Performing Arts Centre

The Performing Arts Centre is a professional standard, fully working theatre with retractable seating for 160 and a state of the art lighting and sound system including intelligent “moving” lights.

The Sanctuary is a quiet space where you can go for a few minutes peace or some time out if you are feeling a bit stressed.

The Sanctuary is a much needed peaceful corner for students that need a bit of quiet time during the day.

Science Laboratories

Each science subject has its own fully equipped, spacious laboratories which enable pleny of practical work to be carried out. Laptops are available for use in theory lessons, to facilitate reseach, writing up experiments and practicals, analysing data and data logging.

The labs are fully air conditioned and wheelchair accessible.

You will have more free time during the day at college than you had at school. You will need to spend some of that time on homework, but getting to know new people and socialising with friends is also an important part of college life.

The Pavilion is the main social space in college where you can meet friends, play cards, chess or other games, do some homework, or just sit around and chat.

In fine weather, you can sit outside on the grass or at the tables outside the pavilion.If we are unable to assist with your specific enquiry we will direct you to someone who can.

The Bridge Cafe and the Pavilion are good places where you can relax and have some food or hang out with friends, which is nice when having a stressful day.

The Diner@Dinedor

The main place to buy food and drink is the Diner@Dinedor. They have a varied menu of hot and cold refreshments, including breakfasts, sandwiches and baguettes, snacks, pasta pots, salads and main meals.

There is also the Cold Deli in the PAC foyer, where the menu includes toasties, wraps, hot dogs and cold drinks. Both the Bridge Cafe and the Cold Deli are cashless. Payment is made by debit card or by using your student ID card, where funds can be added through ParentPay.

The Bridge Cafe offers a great range of hot and cold food, snacks and drinks and is open all day, which is nice when you need a little snack to get you through the last leg of coursework.
