Family members, colleagues, and principals enjoyed beautiful weather for our tree planting ceremony in honour of the founding Principal, Dr Geoffrey Barnes.

The memorial service displayed only a fraction of our gratitude for Dr Barnes. Under its first Principal, the College doubled in size, and its reputation for excellent examination results was established. The 1978 HMI report attributed this to “hard work, good standards and solid achievement” and suggested the College would become a centre of “high academic excellence.”

Thank you, Dr Barnes, for planting such strong roots for Hereford Sixth Form College’s success.
